Gazley Volkswagen Wellington Marathon 2026

The Gazley Volkswagen Wellington Marathon begins at Hnry Stadium in Wellington, directing participants along the city’s harbour-side routes. This is an annual run/walk event offering four distances: the marathon, half marathon, 10km fun run, and Kids' Magic Mile. The courses are flat out-and-back designs, making it a direct race day rather than a technical trail event. Starting from the Hnry Stadium Walkway, the course proceeds south on Waterloo Quay towards the Railway Station, then circles Wellington’s harbour bays. The marathon follows two laps of the half marathon course. Both longer distances are certified to IAAF and AIMS standards. Thousands of participants attend annually, from children in the mile event to marathoners seeking a certified road time. The Wellington Marathon Clinic initiated the race, which has been a fixture in the city’s running schedule since 1986.
