The Two Mile Bay Sailing Club hosts this run, which follows the Great Lake Pathway to Te Ātea and its carved pou before returning alongside the water. Pillar to Pou offers a low-pressure endurance event suitable for running, walking, or relay participation, with the objective to "outrun (or walk) the clock."
The course consists mainly of flat concrete path, making the challenge about establishing a rhythm, navigating the turnaround, and appreciating the "breathtaking views across the lake" toward the surrounding maunga. This event welcomes first-timers, experienced endurance runners, families, and relay teams. Support is available at the start/finish and halfway points, complemented by a "festival-like atmosphere" at the sailing club. A children's race for ages 4-15 is held before the main event, allowing them to "soak up the spirit of the event" on the same lakefront pathway.
