About this race
Ferry Reserve serves as the starting point for a new community trail run venturing into the Manawatū Gorge landscape, featuring ridge lines, bush tracks, and farmland sections. The Te Āpiti Traverse offers the character of a local event, created by runners and community members, traversing the Ruahine and Tararua ranges instead of simply circling a park path.
Expect "rolling hills, bush trails and open farm country." The longer routes include Saddle Road and gorge terrain, while shorter options are suitable for newer trail runners and families. An intermediate option provides a "scenic ridgeline and forested trail run," and the Ruahine route presents a "solid test of stamina and spirit." The Woodville Lions Club organizes the event, with a notable feature being that all proceeds support the local community.
