About this race
The International Solidarity and Olympians Cycling Race is a Polish multi-stage road race held annually since 1990, organized by the Land of Łódź Region of NSZZ “Solidarność.” A typical edition features approximately 160 cyclists from 26 teams, covering nearly 740 kilometers across five stages over four days. The competition includes seven Polish squads alongside teams from Europe, New Zealand, Paraguay, Argentina, and Canada. The race is part of Poland’s ProLiga series and is considered by its organizers to be the country’s second-highest ranked cycling event and a highly regarded competition for Polish cycling.
The route begins in Pabianice and concludes in Stalowa Wola, with extensive road stages connecting Polish towns. One particular stage, from Koluszki to Sieradz, spans 191.6 kilometers. The event maintains a strong connection to the Solidarity trade union. Waldemar Krenc, head of the organizing committee, has described it as “the most beautiful event in the world among trade unions,” emphasizing its spirit as “never one against the other.” In addition to the main race, the Mini Solidarność Race offers a nine-event cycling series for children, ensuring the week covers more than just professional teams and stage winners like Casper van Uden.
