About this race
Biegi Uliczne Memoriał Jana Schmeltera is a street-race series in Chełmno, held in April with the start and finish on the town market square. The program begins in the morning and is designed for the local running community: nine youth races precede an open race for adults, with the open field divided into five age categories.
The route uses Chełmno’s streets, so the event has a town-centre race day feel. Around 500 people participate, with children forming most of the field and adults ranging from amateurs to experienced runners. The open race also counts as a round of the Grand Prix Ziemi Chełmińskiej, and the series is run as a memorial to Jan Schmelter.
