Festiwal Biegowy pod Chelmcem Bieg Idy

Bieg Idy is the middle-distance mountain race at the Festiwal Biegowy pod Chełmcem, a running festival held in Szczawno-Zdrój in southwest Poland. The race covers 11.5 km with approximately 500 m of elevation gain, presenting a short but steep course rather than a flat road run. It is one of several races at the festival, alongside the longer Bieg Babinicza and the shorter Bieg Uzdrowiskowy. The course design makes Bieg Idy the more demanding option among the festival races. It features more climbing than the 21.5 km Bieg Babinicza, despite its shorter distance, and significantly more elevation than the spa-town race. The participant field is local and small, with fewer than 50 finishers recorded for Bieg Idy, suggesting a community mountain race atmosphere where runners are likely to spread out quickly on the ascents. The broader festival also incorporates a spa-themed run within Szczawno-Zdrój, linking the event to the town’s identity as a health resort, in addition to the trails around Chełmiec.
