About this race
Festiwal Biegu Wierchami is a mountain running weekend held at ABlandia Rope Park in Rytro, Nowy Sącz County, Lesser Poland. It takes place annually on the third weekend in June, organized by Stowarzyszenie Visegrad Maraton Rytro. The event offers various race formats, ranging from a 65 km ultra to short children’s races from 40 to 400 m, with additional options of 5 km, 10 km, 23 km, and 45 km. The festival also features a one-hour loop race in ABlandia, a Nordic Walking march, and a 5 km canicross race for participants with dogs.
The courses traverse trails and roads within the Beskid Sądecki range, passing through forests and leading to mountain viewpoints near Rytro, Piwniczna, Stary Sącz, and Krościenko. The Ultra Wierchami, the longest race, begins at the castle in Stara Lubovna, Slovakia, and concludes in Rytro, providing a cross-border element distinct from the shorter local races. Each race maintains a limited field, capped at 100 participants per distance. The diverse participation of ultra runners, walkers, children, juniors, families, and canicross teams contributes to a community atmosphere, resembling a local mountain festival more than a typical competitive event.
