About this race
The Gravel Triathlon Zbiczno begins at the PTTK Bachotek water station in Poland’s Brodnica Lake District, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. This off-road triathlon features wild-water swimming, gravel riding, and trail running through forests, typically held in May. Organized by Poland Extreme Triathlon Series, it is presented as Poland’s first gravel triathlon. Race choices include shorter and longer formats, with examples like a 500 m swim, 38 km bike, and 7 km run, or a 1 km swim, 78 km bike, and 13 km run. Bikerun options are also available over 38 km and 78 km bike legs followed by forest runs.
The course utilizes hiking and biking trails near Zbiczno, avoiding paved roads. The setting has lakes, ponds, pine forests, and larger forest-and-water areas adjacent to Brodnica Landscape Park, with local descriptions noting almost 60 lakes nearby. The designated Gravel & Trail routes, GT45 and GT90, correspond to the race's main distances: approximately 38 km of cycling with 345 m of elevation gain, or 78 km with 701 m, combined with running segments of 8 km or 13 km, also including climbs. It attracts endurance athletes seeking a triathlon experience distinct from typical road races, as well as cyclists and runners accustomed to uneven terrain, inclines, and a more tranquil natural environment.
