About this race
The Greatkids Duathlon is a bike-run race for children at Ada Park in Ada, Michigan, taking place within the Grand Rapids Triathlon. It is designed for participants aged 6 to 11, offering a straightforward introduction to multisport racing: a bike ride on a paved path followed by a run on grass. Cascade Pediatrics sponsors the event, which is part of Michigan's largest independent triathlon.
The race features three age divisions with short, looped courses. Competitors aged 6 to 7 complete a 0.75-mile bike ride and a 0.25-mile run. Those aged 8 to 9 bike 1.5 miles and run 0.5 mile. Participants aged 10 to 11 bike 2.25 miles and run 0.75 mile. The event, which began in the early 2010s, has also been held in other youth multisport formats, such as a Splash and Dash and a kids' triathlon. All finishers receive a Grand Rapids Youth Duathlon T-shirt and a medal.
