About this race
Nocny Bieg Sztafetowy Janusza Kusocińskiego is a 10 km night relay held on the AWF Warsaw campus at ul. Marymoncka 34. Teams consist of four runners, with each participant completing approximately 2.5 km before passing a chip-timed baton. The event takes place after dark, offering a distinct atmosphere compared to typical road races: it is compact, team-oriented, and confined to a single sports campus instead of an extended city course.
The relay is organized by AWF Warszawa and Akademicki Związek Sportowy, featuring team classifications and medals for finishers. It commemorates Janusz Kusociński, an alumnus of CIWF-AWF Warszawa, an Olympic champion in the 10,000 m, a European 5,000 m silver medalist, and a multi-time Polish champion and record holder in middle- and long-distance running. His association with the campus is integral to the race's identity, as he studied and trained there, and the AWF Warsaw athletics hall bears his name.
