About this race
Piątka dla Szymona is a charity run in Kijewo Królewskie, a village in Poland’s Kuyavian-Pomeranian region, held on a Sunday as a community fundraiser. The main options are a 5.8 km run and a Nordic walking event of the same distance, with a shorter race for children. Entry fees are modest, and the money raised goes toward treatment and rehabilitation for Szymon, a boy born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
The day includes more than the 5.8 km route. It starts in the morning with a football tournament called “Gramy dla Szymona,” followed by the running and walking events two hours later. Families are included, with a picnic section alongside the sports program, so the event functions as both a local race day and a village fundraiser.
