About this race
Półmaraton Utkany is a June running event in Żyrardów, a town between Warsaw and Łódź, with its race hub at the bathing area by Zalew Żyrardowski. The program includes a 21.0975 km half marathon, with shorter options over about 5 km and 2.5 km, plus children’s races from 100 m to 800 m. It is set up as a family day: children and youth race first, the 5 km follows, and the half marathon is the main adult race.
The course uses asphalt loops around Zalew Żyrardowski, with each lap measuring about 2.5 km, so half marathon runners complete almost nine circuits. That loop format means runners can use the feeding zone up to nine times, and spectators can keep seeing the field instead of waiting at one distant finish line. The name “Utkany,” meaning “woven,” points to Żyrardów’s linen factory history, and the event also marks the city’s century of sporting tradition. Around the races there are sailing regattas on the reservoir, food trucks, workshops, a kids’ zone, and Latin music from a DJ.
