Zawojski Festiwal Biegowy is a mountain running event held in Zawoja, a large village in southern Poland situated at the base of the Beskids. Now in its fourth year, the festival offers participants five race options, ranging from the beginner-friendly Zawojska 6 to extended ultras within the Babia Góra region. The shortest distance covers 6.2 km with 230 m of ascent, while the Diablak Pilsko Ultra Trail 100 spans approximately 106 km and involves over 5,500 m of elevation gain. Complementing these are a half marathon, a 42.9 km mountain marathon, and a 63 km ultra, ensuring the weekend caters to novices, marathoners, and those seeking a full day in the mountains. The routes incorporate Zawoja’s village environment and the adjacent mountain ranges, deviating from simple road circuits. Participants will traverse forest paths, open mountain vistas, natural and cultural landmarks near Babia Góra, and more active sections closer to the village. The more challenging races are intentionally limited in size, with participant caps around 200 and time restrictions, such as 22 hours for the longest ultra and 15 hours for the 63 km race. The festival attracts runners from throughout Poland and internationally, yet maintains a local character through its village atmosphere, mountainous terrain, and demanding routes from the outset.
