About this race
The Barragem da Queimadela Open Water Race takes place at Queimadela Dam in Fafe, situated on the Rio Vizela. This event is included in Portugal’s National Open Water Circuit and follows Portuguese Swimming Federation regulations. It features an official 3500m race for Open Water and Masters swimmers, alongside promotional 1000m and 500m swims.
The main 3500m race contributes to national ranking points and has a 1 hour 30 minute time limit, making it suitable for registered competitors. Participants in the circuit must be at least 14 years old for the 3500m distance. Wetsuit requirements are determined by the official water temperature, and Multicrono manages the electronic timing. The circuit connects open-water races throughout Portugal, offering awards for overall, age-group, and team standings in both Open Water and Masters divisions.
