2nd Trail do Rabaçal 2026

Trail do Rabacal is a small trail event based in Rebordelo, a village in Vinhais, Portugal's northeast Tras-os-Montes region. It takes place in June and offers a 16 km trail race and an 8 km walk, both starting from the village centre in the morning. This is the event's second edition, organised locally by the Vinhais municipality, the Rebordelo youth association, and the Rebordelo parish council, with technical support from the Braganca athletics association. The 16 km route is designed for trail runners seeking an off-road challenge, not a road race. The accompanying walk broadens the event's appeal beyond the race participants, welcoming various ages and fitness levels without a competitive focus. The event accommodates Portuguese Athletics Federation athletes and individual runners, with categories from under-20 to veteran groups over 70. Registration is inexpensive, the walk is free, and meal options are included, contributing to a local community feel centered on Rebordelo as much as the race itself.
