About this race
Trail Pé Firme is a trail running weekend in west-coast Portugal, centered in Póvoa de Penafirme and Torres Vedras. It is organized by Clube Académico de Penafirme, with support from the Torres Vedras municipality. The event features a team circuit at the Hipódromo de Torres Vedras, main trail races starting and ending at the Pavilhão do Externato de Penafirme, and shorter options like a mini trail and a family walk.
The team race is a 20 km relay, divided into four 5 km laps, for teams of two or four. Participants can be friends, co-workers, parents, and children. The family walk follows the PR2 Caminho da Foz, connecting Praia Azul and the Hipódromo. The main trail courses traverse technical paths, challenging climbs, and natural dirt roads. Electronic timing is used for most events, excluding the mini trail and walk. The event is ATRP certified and part of Portugal’s National Trail Circuit, allowing competitive runners to earn national ranking points. The race draws its local character from the ruins of Convento Velho and the legend of the heroic Pé Firme, which provide the event's name and historical context.
