About this race
Sesimbra Night Trail starts after dark from Praça da Califórnia in Sesimbra, a coastal town south of Lisbon. It is a night trail-running event with two competitive options: a 20 km trail sprint and a 10 km race that younger runners can enter from age 16; there is also a 10 km walk for people who want the route without racing it. The longer race is for adults, with an 18-year minimum age and a four-hour cut-off, while the 10 km race has a three-hour cut-off.
The routes stay inside the municipality of Sesimbra and use technical trails with real climbing, including areas linked to the Serra da Arrábida. The setting puts runners between hills and the Atlantic, so the appeal is not just running at night but moving through steep local terrain with headlamps, sea air, and limited outside help. Aid and control points are only for athletes, bibs must stay visible, and electronic timing mats decide classification, so it is a fairly structured event despite the adventurous feel. The race is organized by Associação Desportiva OMUNDODACORRIDA.COM with support from the Câmara Municipal de Sesimbra, and it ends with prizes for leading finishers and teams.
