Celtic Challenge Trail

The Celtic Challenge Trail is a trail race in Ronfe, Guimarães, Portugal's Braga District, with its next edition scheduled for early October. Participants can select from three single-loop distances: 11 km, 19 km, or 29 km. The shortest route involves a 560-meter ascent, the 19 km course gains 970 meters, and the 29 km TOP route climbs 1,525 meters, indicating it is not a simple flat run. The format is suited for runners seeking a nature-focused challenge without being tied to a single distance. The 19 km trail is the most frequently chosen option, and the 29 km version offers the most demanding day for strong climbers. The race location is also near several accessible post-race destinations, such as Guimarães Castle, Braga's historic center, the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus of Braga, Peneda-Gerês National Park, and the Aquapark of Amarante for families.
