Corrida da Baía de Monte Gordo is an 8 km cross-country race on the beach in Monte Gordo, on Portugal’s Algarve coast. It takes place in early August, with sand underfoot and the sea nearby, making it feel more like a hard beach run than a road race.
The route is a single 8 km loop along the seaside. The sand presents the main challenge, particularly for runners accustomed to pavement, and the distance makes it accessible for many participants. Post-race, Monte Gordo offers proximity to Tavira, the Barreta islet, Castro Marim Castle, and Aquashow water park for excursions in the eastern Algarve.
