About this race
Corrida do Carnaval is a road race in Rio Tinto, in Gondomar, Portugal, built around Carnival rather than a standard race-day mood. The main event is a 10 km run, with the start and finish set in front of the Stadium of Sport Clube Rio Tinto. It sits on the regional race calendar and gives local runners a timed race while also making room for families through a separate 4 km parents-and-children walk.
The route uses urban avenues and turns back near the metro line in Fânzeres. Entry is open to club and non-club runners, with men’s and women’s categories starting at age 18 and several veteran divisions. Finishers receive t-shirts and medals, while trophies go to the top three in each category. Local athletics groups support the technical side of the event, and security support is part of the organization.
