About this race
The Coutos Natura Challenge is a trail running event held in Portugal’s Viseu District. Its races take place around Coutos de Viseu and adjacent rural parishes in late September. It is presented as the district's largest trail running event, featuring multiple race options: a long trail of approximately 30 km, a shorter trail of about 20 km, a 10 km youth or mini trail, and a 10 km walk.
The courses follow natural trails through Coutos de Viseu, Bodiosa, São Miguel do Mato, and Ribafeita, incorporating technical and rugged terrain instead of paved roads. Participants will encounter forest paths, granite formations, and challenging ground. The walk is designed to accommodate families alongside competitive runners. The adult races are for those 18 and older, the mini trail is open to athletes from 13 years old, and children from 4 can participate in the walk with parental consent. The Associação Cultural, Recreativa e Desportiva Datus organizes the event in collaboration with local parish councils and trail running associates, with support from the Municipality of Viseu. The event also highlights a commitment to ecological responsibility and local customs.
