Desafio Cumes do Marão

Desafio Cumes do Marão is a mountain trail running series held in Ansiães, within Portugal’s Serra do Marão. The primary event covers 50 km, complemented by shorter loop courses of 30 km, 20 km, and 13 km, all commencing and concluding in the village. This event is exclusively for adults aged 18 and above, operating under a semi-autonomous format that requires participants to manage a portion of their own exertion and provisions while on the mountain. The courses traverse the central Marão region, connecting locations including Ansiães, Teixeira, Mafómedes, Campeã, Montes, Cotorinho, Fontes, Soutelo, and Candemil. The terrain presents significant challenges, featuring substantial elevation shifts, paths crossing iconic Marão summits, old-growth woodlands, and deep ravines. The race is organized by Associação Desportiva Marão Trail and SavageNatur Events, carrying forward the tradition established by the Ultra Trail do Marão.
