Desafio Cumes do Marão

Desafio Cumes do Marão is a mountain trail event held in Ansiães, a village within the Amarante municipality in northern Portugal. Taking place in September within the Serra do Marão, it offers 13 km, 20 km, 30 km, and 50 km trail running options, alongside hiking for those seeking a mountain day without the competitive distances. The 50K serves as the main challenge, intended for runners prepared for a strenuous endurance test over steep terrain. All race starts and finishes are located in Ansiães, establishing the village as the central point for participants, support crews, and onlookers. The courses traverse the Heart of Marão region, covering areas such as Teixeira/Mafómedes, Campeã/Montes/Cotorinho, Fontes/Soutelo, and Candemil. The event is coordinated by Associação Desportiva Marão Trail alongside SavageNatur Events, attracting trail runners who seek a challenging route within one of Portugal's significant mountain ranges.
