About this race
TAUT – Terras do Ancião Ultra Trail begins in Ansião, Portugal, over three days in late February. It is a trail-running weekend featuring seven competitive races and a walk. Distances range from about 13 km to a 179.1 km ultra with 6,788 m of climbing. The event also includes a 114.6 km race with 4,845 m of elevation gain. The longer races carry ITRA National League, Mountain, Nocturne, and UTMB Index labels.
The courses traverse roads and paths across central Portugal, including areas in Soure, Pombal, Penela, Castanheira de Pêra, Góis, Pampilhosa da Serra, Oleiros, Sertã, Pedrógão Grande, Figueiró dos Vinhos, and Ansião. The race identity is linked to stone, an element the organizers associate with the local landscape and art. Ansibikers organizes the event with support from the Municipality of Ansião’s Sports Office, and the program includes the Municipal Trail Championship. The routes are described as beautiful but challenging, reflecting the scale of the climbs and the course's spread across hills, villages, and rural tracks.
