Trail Iberlince Barrancos takes place in early February in Barrancos, a small town in Portugal’s Beja District, close to the Spanish border. Participants can select from two one-loop courses: a 12 km route for quicker, shorter-distance runners and a 23 km route for those seeking a longer trail run. Both distances focus on nature and forest running, distinct from road racing.
The race offers a reason to explore a quiet part of inland Alentejo. After the race, participants can explore Barrancos and the surrounding area. Moura, with its medieval streets and castle, is under an hour away. Lake Alqueva, Europe’s largest artificial lake, is also close. Longer visits might include hiking in Serra de São Mamede Natural Park or a cultural trip to Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
