John Bauer Trail Run 2026

The John Bauer Trail Run begins at IKHP-stugan on Huskvarna mountain, leading participants into the troll forests north of Huskvarna. This is a demanding, undulating trail race offering adult distances of 5 km, 10 km, and 18 km, alongside youth and children’s races such as Knattetrollen and Stortrollen. The event emphasizes rugged terrain over smooth road running, incorporating marked trails, off-piste sections, significant elevation gain, and technical descents. The course traces the Bauer trail, providing vistas of Lake Vättern before challenging runners on Strutsabacken, or Ostrich Hill, the route’s most difficult ascent. This hill features its own timed segment: the quickest climber in each category receives the Bergatrollet, or Mountain Troll prize. The start and finish area at IKHP-stugan is family-oriented, equipped with food services, activities, changing facilities, and showers, accommodating both children’s races and the longer adult events.
