About this race
Beh na Poludňový Grúň is a steep mountain race held in Vrátna Starý Dvor, close to Terchová in Slovakia’s Žilina District. Runners tackle 4,000 meters with 846 meters of elevation gain over off-road terrain. This makes it a demanding uphill effort rather than a typical short road race. The start is at the lower station of the Paseky chairlift, with the finish located on Poludňový Grúň at 1,460 meters above sea level.
The race, now in its 23rd edition, is organized by Občianske združenie Grúň and Chata na Grúni. It features categories for juniors, junior women, men up to 40, men up to 60, men over 60, women up to 40, women up to 60, and women over 60. Juniors participate for free, while other participants pay an entry fee. A cash reward is offered for breaking the course record, aligning with the race’s straightforward appeal: a short route, a significant climb, and a summit finish that demands full effort.
