About this race
Behaj lesmi Veľká Fatra is a forest running event based around Hrabovo near Ružomberok in Slovakia's Žilina region. The main long race is roughly 18 km, with about 730 to 800 meters of climbing depending on the listing, and it also counts as a UTMB Index 20K race. The event is run in July and sits in the Behaj lesmi series, with RAUL SLOVAKIA, s.r.o. as organizer.
The races use forest roads rather than city streets, so the climbing is a real part of the day even on the shorter options. Alongside the 18 km course, runners can choose an 11 km Lesnícka route, a short race, and children's races, which makes the program work for families as well as trail runners. Adult age groups stretch from teenagers to 70+, and the children's categories run from the youngest Benjamínci up to older school-age runners. A recent 18 km edition had 238 finishers, with the winner running 1:25:07.
