About this race
The Mary’s Meals Charity Run is a September event held at the winter stadium in Dolný Kubín, Slovakia. It features an 8 km main race starting at 10:30 AM and a children’s race at 11:00 AM. Participants can run in person in Dolný Kubín or virtually on a chosen route. The entry fee is 22 €, which Mary’s Meals states is enough to cover school meals for one child for an entire school year.
The Dolný Kubín course incorporates both asphalt and forest roads, distinguishing it as a local race rather than a city-wide, road-only event. Categories are available for men, women, and children. The event attracts participants through schools, parishes, communities, and the virtual format. The Slovak slogan for the race is “Beh mení príbeh,” meaning “Running changes the story.” The fundraising goal is to provide school meals for children in Malawi and other schools requiring assistance. Mary’s Meals reports serving over 3 million children in 16 countries, with meals prepared by volunteers using locally sourced food, at an approximate cost of 11 cents per meal.
