About this race
Rusínska 100 a 66 begins and ends on Námestie SNP in Stropkov, a town in northeastern Slovakia near the Polish border. Organized by runners from Klub bežcov Stropkov, it is an ultratrail race and long-distance march. The event offers two main options: the Rusínska 100, approximately 109-110 km, and the Rusínska 66, about 70-73 km. It takes place in August, with a 7:00 AM start. The terrain consists mostly of firm forest roads, with only about 10 percent asphalt, making it a long mountain-and-village day rather than a road ultra.
The longer route crosses the Ondavská vrchovina in Zemplín, continues into Šariš, and passes Svidník in the northern Nízke Beskydy mountains. Participants will run through Ruthenian villages, along stretches near the Polish border, and partly enter the protected Východné Karpaty area. The climbing is substantial for the distance: the long race has about 3,882 meters of gain, while the shorter route has 2,533 to 2,748 meters of gain. The Rusínska 66 has a UTMB Index listing. The participants include Slovak ultratrail runners, men and women competing on the same rural eastern-Slovak course, and marchers covering the distance at a slower pace.
