About this race
Vysokohorský beh cez Klin is a high-mountain running race in Pribylina, Slovakia, located in the Liptovský Mikuláš district of Žilinský kraj. It typically takes place in September, beginning near Horský hotel Akademik in Račkova dolina. The course measures approximately 20.5 to 22.5 km with 1,280 m of elevation gain, marking it as a challenging mountain race rather than a fast road event.
The route incorporates forest roads, trails, rocky terrain, and grassy ridges, including exposed sections requiring both mountain navigation skills and physical conditioning. Competitors are divided into age categories: 18-40, 41-50, and over 50 for both men and women. The event is organized by HK JAMES Liptovský Hrádok, the Mountain Rescue Service, and the Pribylina tourists and skiers club, aligning with the demanding environment. Participant numbers are modest; a recent edition saw 37 starters, 7 of whom were women, and the participation record stands at 65 runners. This race has reached at least its 16th running, offering category medals and an event T-shirt as part of the local race package.
