Atlanta Training Notes
Atlanta hosts 35 10K races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.
Locals run the Atlanta Beltline when they want steady miles without too many street crossings. The Beltline, Eastside Trail connects Piedmont Park to Historic Old Fourth Ward and Inman Park in a 4-mile loop. Piedmont Park gives runners loops around The Meadow and Lake Clara Meer, plus a 7-mile route by Peachtree and 10th Streets. The lazy hooch trails and Cochran Shoals Fitness Trail keep Z2 soft and close. Atlanta Track Club and Atlanta Beltline Partnership guide Thursday runs at 6:30 p.m. Atlanta Track Club makes the Triple Peach Race Series the anchor, with Peachtree Road Race, Atlanta 10 Miler, and Atlanta Half Marathons in the mix.
Locals ride the Beltline for easy spins, the Silver Comet Trail for base miles, and Stone Mountain from Midtown when they want a real day out. The loop is 6 km with 677 m of elevation. The north and west routes pack 1,102 m of climbing into 2 km when legs need work. Independent Gravel, MTB Atlanta, Atlanta Peloton, Sadlebred, and Flashride keep the group-ride calendar moving. Dirty Sheets, Talking Rock Gravel, Sope Creek Trail, and Blankets Creek Trail cover gravel, singletrack, cyclocross legs, and tight grips on descents. Beautiful Backroads Century and MTB Atlanta's Dirty Sheets Gravel Grinder feel like the anchor events.
Late spring and early fall give Atlanta the cleanest training rhythm because those months run somewhat drier. Summer brings hot, humid work, so locals shift intervals early and keep Z2 honest under the tree cover. July brings high temperatures on an average of 47 days per year, and summer dewpoints climb from June into July. Winter stays mild overall, but Atlanta can flip fast. Gulf air can make a ride feel spring-like, and Arctic air can push lows into the teens °F. Freezing lows land on 36 nights annually, so runners and cyclists keep layers ready and routes flexible.
