Judgment Day Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Run/Walk
SUN OCT 4
The Judgment Day Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Run/Walk takes place in Bakersfield, California, in early October. All race distances start and finish at Sam Lynn Ballpark, utilizing the Kern River Trail. This event serves as the final race in the Run The Valley Series, making it suitable as a standalone competition or a series finale. The half marathon and 10K begin before the 5K, and a virtual half marathon option is also available. The half marathon is 13.1 miles on mixed terrain, including paved sections, dirt trails, and an ascent to Panorama Bluffs before returning to Sam Lynn Ballpark. The 10K begins inside the ballpark, follows the paved Kern River Trail, then diverts to a dirt path up Bluff Hill before finishing back at the ballpark. The 5K is a straightforward, flat out-and-back course entirely on the paved Kern River Trail, ideal for walkers, beginners, or those aiming for a consistent pace. Race day amenities include aid stations with water, Electrolit, and GU, live results via phone, RaceJoy tracking, complimentary race photos, music, breakfast, La Rosa's Fruit Bars, finisher medals, and awards for age groups and overall finishers, plus a post-race beer garden.

About 10K races in Bakersfield-Delano

Bakersfield-Delano Training Notes

Bakersfield-Delano hosts 3 10K races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.

The flat route covers 87 km while gaining +112 m. The second route covers 66 km while climbing +742 m. The third route covers 26 km with +12 m gain. Panorama Vista Preserve carries the Summer Grand Prix, and Bakersfield Marathon sits as the anchor event. No named run club is listed here, so race mornings do a lot of the social work.

The Kern River Parkway Trail is the easy spin, and Panorama park keeps paved bike paths close. Yokuts park and Round Mountain Road give locals the harder rides when Z2 turns into intervals. Kern Wheelmen Bicycle Club anchors the scene, and the club organizes cycling activities for all levels, ages, and genders. Round Mountain Road runs 4 km and climbs 306 m, and locals still talk about riding out to the Barn at Hart Park for a potluck taco Tuesday ride. Rancheria Road gravel does not disappoint, and Ethel's, Rnd Mtn to Granite and back over runs 65 km with 755 m elevation.

Bakersfield-Delano training changes most when summer shows up, and locals start earlier for both runs and rides. Rancheria Road still works, and the route gives roughly two miles of steady paved climbing after crossing over the Kern River. The Lookout Trail stays an option, and summer overgrowth can change the feel fast. The Oak Flat Lookout Tower is available for rent, and Breckenridge Mountain sits visible across the Kern River. Winter details are not listed here, so locals keep the same parks, trails, and foothill routes in rotation while watching conditions before longer base miles.
