7 Bridges Marathon

The 7 Bridges Marathon begins and ends at Coolidge Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee, close to the Big Blue Rhino and the Chattanooga Theatre. This fall road-running event centers on the city’s bridges, featuring a full marathon as the primary race alongside a half marathon, 10K, 5K, and a children's run. The marathon follows the standard 26.2-mile distance, is USATF certified, and qualifies participants for the Boston Marathon. The marathon route crosses seven bridges: four within downtown Chattanooga and three along the North Chick Greenway. Participants will run on road, concrete, and asphalt surfaces, with aid stations and restrooms provided frequently. While not a flat course, race organizers characterize it as manageable for the East Tennessee region, rather than excessively hilly. The bridge theme extends throughout the weekend's events, from the marathon to the shorter races, and all finishers will receive medals, with age-group awards presented at the venue.

PLAYTRI - IRONMAN 70.3 CHATTANOOGA

PLAYTRI - IRONMAN 70.3 Chattanooga follows the half-Ironman format: a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run. The Chattanooga race utilizes the Ironman 70.3 structure, with PLAYTRI managing the practical bike aspects of the weekend as Ironman’s official triathlon store, providing onsite assistance before and during race day. The most specific detail offered is the bike support. Athletes may rent tri bikes equipped with aerobars, carbon race wheels, and either electronic or mechanical shifting, or opt for road bikes without aerobars. PLAYTRI also provides bike builds, safety checks, race-ready tune-ups, full overhauls, and a build-and-pack service. This service retrieves the bike from transition, disassembles it while the athlete is running, and leaves it packed at the designated transition spot.

About cycling & running in Chattanooga

Chattanooga Base Miles

Running: The North Chickamauga Creek Greenway runs 19 km with 52 m of gain, and Stringer's Ridge sits 5 minutes from downtown. Stringer's Ridge gives runners 3-8 mile loops when Z2 needs dirt. Lookout Mountain stacks Bluff Trail, Jura, John Smart, and Guild Hardy into punchy trail days. Raccoon Mountain has a 13-mile loop when base miles need views. Scenic City Trail Runners, Cumberland Trail Runners, Chattanooga Trail Runners, Wild Trails, and Chattanooga Track Club keep the scene moving. The Chattanooga Marathon, 7 Bridges Marathon, Missionary Ridge Road Race, and Chattanooga Chase work as anchor races.

Cycling: Cyclists get plenty from St. Elmo, Red Bank, Chapel Hill, and the ridges around town. Team Bubba Cycling Club brings lots of heckling, and Chattanooga Bicycle Club has been around nearly 60 years. The climb is 5 km with 1,016 m of gain, and St. St. Elmo is 2 km with 1,104 m of gain. Lookout Mountain, Raccoon Mountain, Signal Mountain, Missionary Ridge, Hotwater, Sand Mountain via Murphy Hollow, and Haley Road hold the climbs. Cycle Sequatchie and Three-Mountain Challenge and Cherohala Challenge sit like gran fondo anchors.

Season: The Chattanooga area rides year-round, and locals run year-round too. Spring and fall feel best for long Z2, trail blocks, and bigger group days. Summer gets hot, so runners lean early for intervals, Fast Break Athletics mornings, and race days like Heatwave Half Marathon or Christmas In July. Cyclists roll early too, because Lookout, Raccoon, and Signal still bite once the heat comes up. Winter changes the kit bag more than the calendar. Chattanooga weather can feel like July one day and February the next, so locals keep road, gravel, and singletrack plans flexible.
