Cajun Road Runners Triple Crown Challenge
SAT OCT 10
One registration provides entry into three Cajun Road Runners Club races in Lafayette, Louisiana: the Downtown 8K, the Cajun Cup 10K, and the Vermilion River Run 10 Miler. The series takes place from October through December, functioning as a local fall race series rather than a single event weekend. Participants begin with the Downtown 8K, proceed to the Cajun Cup 10K, and conclude the series with the 10-mile Vermilion River Run. Those who complete all three races receive the merchandise from each individual race, along with a limited-edition Triple Crown medal and special items exclusively for challenge participants. The Downtown 8K course is subject to change, and packet pickup will adhere to that race's timeline, offering race-day pickup as an option.
Cajun Cup 10K & 1 Mile
SAT NOV 14
The Cajun Cup includes a 10K and Farrel's Mile, both held at Parc Sans Souci in downtown Lafayette, Louisiana. The mile begins at 7:00 AM, with the 10K starting at 7:30 AM. This Saturday morning event caters to both short-distance runners and those participating in the longer race.
Cajun Country Run (1/2 Marathon, 10k, 5k & Fun Run)
SAT DEC 19
The Cajun Country Run is a December race series in Lafayette, Louisiana, offering both road and trail options on the same day. The road events include a USATF-certified half marathon, a USATF-certified 10K, and a 5K. The trail events feature a 10K and a 5K. A 1-mile fun run is also available, making the event suitable for half marathoners, trail runners, casual 5K participants, and families. The half marathon follows a single-loop road course and is noted as Acadiana's oldest half marathon. The event began in 2002 and has benefited TRAIL's efforts at the Acadiana Park & Nature Station since 2010. Participants can select either pavement or trails. Strong finishers receive one of the more distinctive awards in local racing: an alligator head.

About 10K races in Lafayette

Lafayette Base Miles

Lafayette hosts 3 10K races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.

Locals run Lafayette on short loops, steady roads, and shaded trail bits. There's a 7-mile trail through the woods. There's a 3-mile pond loop. Acadiana Park Nature Station links 6+ miles of trails when you want dirt underfoot. You can run 6 miles around Cypress Lake. Cajun Road Runners Club brings group and track workouts. Geaux Run, Fleet Feet, and Brooks put The Big Run on the local calendar. Zydeco Marathon and Cajun Cup 10K stay the anchor race names.

Bike Lafayette keeps the riding culture organized, and the Lafayette MPO Bicycle Subcommittee stays in the mix. Lafayette Parish roads carry most of the base miles, tempo days, and Z2 spins. The typical loop runs 9 km and gains 12 m, so nobody calls it a climb day. The flat route covers 1 km and gains only 3 m. You'll find 4 km and 546 m of ascent when you want a long grind. Another route climbs 5 km and 723 m. Cycle Zydeco, Bikes, Brews & Omelettes, CajunMan, and SugarMan are the big event targets.

August and September bring the most cyclists out, and those months can still work if you respect the heat. May through September brings high humidity, so locals run early, ride early, and keep intervals short when the air feels thick. Moncus Park and Girard Park stay useful for controlled laps when summer turns sticky. Acadiana Park Nature Station gives runners shade and softer footing. Winter temperatures sit in the 50s and 60s, so base miles feel easier and the bike calendar opens up. Warm, damp winter days make long runs, gran fondo prep, and steady road rides feel pretty normal here.
