10K races near Lake Geneva

Panting for Paws hosts 5K and 10K runners and walkers at West Florence High School for its annual animal-shelter fundraiser. A virtual 5K is available for those unable to attend in person, and the race proceeds regardless of weather. Finishers earn medals, and virtual participants receive a shirt and medal. The in-person event features music, food, and children's activities, with proceeds benefiting homeless dogs and cats via The Darlington County Humane Society Shelter and The Florence Area Humane Society. Those not participating in the run or walk can assist by volunteering or donating.

The Richardson Farm Fall 5K & 10K is an obstacle-course race at Richardson Farm in Spring Grove, Illinois, featuring a corn maze. Participants can select a timed or untimed 5K, a 10K, a 5K route through the farm, a 1 Mile Adventure Run for families, and children’s events including a 100-meter maze dash. The 5K route runs inside Richardson Farm’s corn maze, described as the World’s Largest Corn Maze. The path is marked but includes numerous turns, offering a puzzle-like experience rather than a typical road race. Families have a shorter adventure run, and the variety of timed, untimed, children’s, and walk-friendly options accommodates a range of participants.

The Abominable Trail Race takes place at Lake Geneva Ziplines & Adventures, featuring woods, hills, and various distance options suitable for casual walkers and runners seeking a challenging outing. The available race distances are 5K, 10K, 15K, and 30K, with the shorter distances welcoming participants of all skill levels. The 30K Challenge, the longest event, can be completed individually or as a relay by teams of two, three, or four. This is the fourth year for the race, and it offers a clearly marked course, chip timing, complimentary action photos, an Abominable shirt, a finisher medal, and a beverage at the end.

The course travels through city streets and rural areas, with some hills on asphalt. Finishers for the 5K and 10K will receive medals. The 2 mile walk has no awards. Shirts are guaranteed only for those who preregister by May 19th; there will not be a second order of shirts.
