The Tater Trot name belongs to small, community-first running events with a potato-country sense of humor. In Antigo, Wisconsin, the Tater Trot is held every second Saturday of August with a 10K run, 6K run/walk, and 2K run, and it supports local youth groups. Other races using the name include a North Carolina Potato Festival 5K and 1-mile walk in Elizabeth City, and a Racine County memorial 5K run/walk in Wisconsin honoring Deputy Joshua "Tater" LaForge.
