TRI-It Racing Clubs Du Kona Multi-sport Series
SAT OCT 3
Du Kona is a multi-sport race at Mitchell Park on Guthrie Lake in Guthrie, Oklahoma, offering sprint triathlon, super sprint triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, and aquathlon. It serves as an end-of-season event, noted as the final race of the year in Oklahoma. The sprint triathlon includes a 500-yard swim, 18-mile bike, and 3-mile run. The duathlon consists of a 2-mile run, an 18-mile bike, and a final 2-mile run. The swim takes place in a protected cove on a no-wake lake, with kayak support and space for spectators along the shoreline. The bike course involves multiple loops and is considered challenging across the various distance options. The race concludes with a fast run course. Check-in requires a photo ID, the pre-race meeting occurs in transition, and awards are presented as printed certificates by a USAT-certified race director.

Haunted 5K, 10K, & 13.1M at Oklahoma City, OK (43)
SAT OCT 24
The Haunted 5K, 10K, and 13.1M in Oklahoma City is a morning race series starting at Lake Stanley Draper. Runners can choose from 5K, 10K, and half marathon distances, all beginning at 8:00 AM. This is a local race with a standard setup: registration is done in advance via RunSignup, packet pickup is shortly before the start, and on-site registration is not available. The courses consist of short out-and-back segments, meaning each distance is completed by running laps of the same route. The 5K covers the route twice, the 10K covers it four times, and the half marathon covers it six times. All participants have a 3 hour and 30 minute time limit.
Salute to Veterans 5K/10K/Half Marathon - Oklahoma City
SAT NOV 7
The Salute to Veterans 5K/10K/Half Marathon offers 5K, 10K, and half marathon distances on the trails of Lake Stanley Draper Park in Oklahoma City. This event honors military veterans, who may register at no cost. The race route utilizes the park's trails surrounding Lake Stanley Draper, providing a lakeside park setting rather than a city-road course. All finishers will receive a patriotic race shirt and a distinctive medal. Awards are presented to top finishers and to runners in five-year age categories.
Turkey Shuffle - Oklahoma City
SAT NOV 7
The Turkey Shuffle is a November running event in Oklahoma City, held at Stars & Stripes Park. Participants can select a 1-mile run, a 5K, or a 10K. Children 10 and under have a dedicated Kids Dash of approximately 50 meters. The course winds through local parks and greenbelts, offering a fall landscape with autumn colors instead of a city-street setting. It accommodates various participants, including short-distance walkers and runners, 5K and 10K participants, and families with young children. DJ Sasquatch will provide music on race day. The event is also part of a Run Streak Bundle, which offers a discount for registering for multiple races in different cities.
The Next Loop Endurance Series | Lake Carl Blackwell
SAT NOV 21
The Next Loop Endurance Series challenges runners with a 3.1-mile trail loop. Start a new loop every hour on the hour. After each loop, decide whether to continue or stop. Only completed loops are counted. This format tests discipline, recovery, decision-making, and endurance. It is for first-time 10K participants to seasoned ultra runners and functional athletes. Run the loop. Recover. Decide. Repeat. Find your next limit, one loop at a time.
2026 Merry Mitchmas 5K & 10K
SAT DEC 19
Merry Mitchmas is a 5K and 10K race held in Mitch Park, Edmond, Oklahoma, with the start and finish at 1501 W Covell Road. Red Coyote organizes this winter running event, offering two straightforward options: a single 3.1-mile loop for the 5K, or two loops for the 6.2-mile 10K. This is the race's third annual edition, and it has quickly become Red Coyote Running's largest and most popular event. The course is a clockwise loop on the Mitch Park Rec Trail, featuring gently rolling terrain suitable for beginners, families, and experienced runners alike. The holiday theme contributes to its appeal, including a half-mile kids dash, a post-race hot cocoa bar, and an opportunity to meet Santa. This race is considered a family-friendly seasonal favorite locally, and organizers note that it typically sells out.
The Kilgore Half Marathon & 10k
THU DEC 24
The Kilgore Half Marathon & 10K takes place on Christmas Eve in Oklahoma City, offering a 13.1-mile half marathon or a 10-kilometer race. Known also as The Run for the Deployed, its objective is to support service members, not to award prize money or create a large spectacle. The event originated from a Christmas Eve half marathon run during deployment. It expanded into small local gatherings hosted at a home, initially attracting only a few dozen participants. The tradition has since spread beyond Oklahoma City, with an edition in Virginia Beach and other runners continuing it in various cities and states. Registration is free, and organizers have stated that participation is open even without formal registration. The day fosters a relaxed community atmosphere, featuring shared food, informal meetups, and volunteer support for the run.

About 10K races in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City Training Notes

Oklahoma City hosts 12 10K races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.

Locals put a lot of base miles on Lake Hefner, and the loop runs 10 miles all the way around. Lake Hefner Trails have very little traffic to contend with, good scenery, and half-mile marks when you want honest intervals. The Hefner-Overholser Trails connect the lakes, and Lake Overholser gives weekend runners about 8 miles around. The Oklahoma River Trails give both banks 13 miles total through the Boathouse District. The Landrunners, also known as the Oklahoma City Running Club, keep the scene connected. The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is the anchor event, with Hometown Half Marathon & 5K/10K also in the mix.

Riders use Lake Hefner Trail, Oklahoma River Trails, Katy Trail, Overholser Trail, Bluff Creek Trail, and Lake Stanley Draper Trail for weekday spins and longer Z2. Great Rides Oklahoma City runs the Lake Hefner Loop as a 10-mile ride from Stars and Stripes Park, and Oklahoma Bicycle Society gives roadies another local hub. Gravel riders hit Bluff Creek, Dam gravel, River Road, and Honey Grav in Kingfisher County. Honey Grav has smooth gravel and little elevation gain, but the route has no refuel or water stops until mile 32.5. Arcadia Loop brings the real climbing with 1,033 m elevation near Edmond.

Spring and fall are the best months, especially when the maintained sidewalks sit under massive trees and the fall color shows up. Summer brings hot, humid work, and the south or south-southeast wind can turn Z2 into a headwind session fast. The temperature hits 8°C on nearly 70 days. The temperature can drop to 7°C, and northerly winds make it feel colder. Ice storms and snowstorms happen sporadically, so runners and cyclists shift routes, layers, and start times when the weather flips.
