Recurring 10K races near Providence-Warwick

Races that repeat — weekly, monthly or yearly

Run for the Pumpkins Trail Run
SAT OCT 3
Rhode Island DEM rules mandate that all participants and volunteers at the Run for the Pumpkins Trail Run wear at least 200 square inches of orange. This fall 5K and 10K trail event takes place at Bradford Preserve in Westerly, Rhode Island, with both races starting and ending at the preserve. The route starts with approximately one-third of a mile across an open grass field, allowing runners to spread out before entering the narrower trails. The course then proceeds primarily on dirt trails through Town of Westerly land and a section of Woody Hill Management Area, featuring both double-track and single-track paths. Course markings include flags and signs, complemented by seasonal decorations such as ghosts to enhance the pumpkin-themed atmosphere. While walkers are welcome, they are encouraged to opt for the 5K distance; dogs and strollers are not permitted on the course. Prizes will be awarded to the top overall male and female finishers and to winners in each age group, with food and refreshments provided to all participants post-race.
Fitzpatrick Team RE/MAX Results Ocean Road 10k
SUN OCT 4
Pt. Judith Lighthouse marks the start, immediately signaling the morning's character: coastal, exposed, and straightforward underfoot. The 13th annual Fitzpatrick Team RE/MAX Results Ocean Road 10k is a point-to-point run and walk with a clear route, following Ocean Rd. along the coast before heading toward Town Beach. The course's flatness suits fast runners seeking a time trial, while also accommodating walkers and those aiming for a solid autumn effort by the water. Near the finish, you pass under the Narragansett Towers, a notable landmark as fatigue sets in. Over 2,000 runners and walkers of all paces participate each year, the event sells out annually, and all finishers receive a medal; race photos are shared post-race using #OceanRoad10k.
Grills Trail Run
SAT OCT 24
Grills Trail Run is a fall trail race at Grills Preserve in Westerly, Rhode Island, offering 10-mile and 10-km options. Both races begin and end within the preserve, sharing the initial mile before diverging. This design provides a focused local trail event, distinct from road races merely labeled as trails. Westerly Track & Athletic Club organizes it as part of its fall race series. The event is intentionally straightforward, featuring club timing, no race shirts, and a lower entry fee compared to larger races. The course consists mainly of single-track trails, approximately 80 percent narrow and 20 percent double-track, incorporating riverfront sections and bridge crossings. The 10-mile route extends from Grills Preserve into Grills Wildlife Sanctuary in Hopkinton. Walkers are directed to the 10-km option, as the longer race has a 2 hour 30 minute cutoff. Strollers and dogs are prohibited, aligning with the course's tight trail format. The race contributes to the WTAC Fall Race Series standings, with a discount available for participants registering for multiple series races.
GenesisHR Battlegreen Run 2025
SUN NOV 1
The GenesisHR Battlegreen Run is a volunteer-run community race in Lexington, Massachusetts, starting at Lexington High School. This annual Sunday event begins midday and offers a 5K run, 10K run, 5K walk, or 1.2-mile walk. The field includes runners, walkers, families, and those supporting a team or cause. The race is closely tied to local fundraising, with participants raising money for nonprofits and local charities. One long-running group is Running for Innocence, which supports the New England Innocence Project's Running for Innocence Fund. This fund assists innocence organizations in Massachusetts with costs for experts and investigators in wrongful-conviction cases. The event is in its thirtieth running, and the local community views it as both a race day and a charity gathering.
Husky Run & Ruck 10K, 5K and Fitness Walk
SUN NOV 8
The Husky Run & Ruck takes place during Veterans Day weekend in Storrs, Connecticut. It features a 10K run, a 5K run, and an untimed 1-mile fitness walk. The event is centered at UConn, with ceremonies before and after the races held outside the Student Recreation Center. All three main events begin on Hillside Road in the morning. The 5K has a distinct start area, separate from the 10K and walk. The 10K route follows the Bonemill loop through the rural Mansfield-Storrs area. All courses include a pass by the Ultimate Sacrifice Memorial on the Great Lawn. Proceeds benefit scholarships for military and veteran students, as well as the Kyle Milliken Fund. This fund honors Navy SEAL Kyle Jeffrey Milliken, a former UConn Track & Field walk-on who died in service. A Blackhawk helicopter landing on the Great Lawn adds a military presence, complementing the standard start line ceremony. A Kids Run concludes under the Hillside Road arch following the primary races.
Newport Winter 10K
SUN DEC 6
The Newport Winter 10K is a cold-season 10k held in Newport, Rhode Island. Both the start and finish are located at Brenton Point State Park. Runners will follow Ocean Drive, with the race course situated along the exposed coastline instead of a downtown loop or neighborhood route. The route proceeds clockwise around Ocean Drive from Brenton Point, keeping runners near Newport’s shore for most of the run. This is the event's second annual race, and finishers are awarded a medal and a winter beanie.

About 10K races in Providence-Warwick

Providence-Warwick Training Notes

Providence-Warwick hosts 23 10K races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.

Locals run Blackstone Boulevard when they want soft miles without leaving town. The 2-mile out-and-back stays easy on the legs. Downtown runners head along the Providence River, cross at Point Street Bridge, and loop India Point Park when they want city miles with water beside them. Brown Running Club, Frontrunners Rhode Island, Gansett Run Club, and Rhode Island Road Runners keep the week social. Gansett Run Club meets Wednesdays at 6pm at the Gansett Brewery at India Point in Providence. Rhode Island Half Marathon & 5K, ASICS Blue Jean Mile, and Brightstar Downtown 5K are solid anchor events.

Locals ride the East Bay Bike Path for base miles, because the route runs over 14 miles from Providence to Bristol and keeps the bay in the picture. Blackstone Boulevard gives riders large bike lanes, and the Washington Secondary Bike Path covers 19 mostly flat miles from Cranston Street in Cranston to Log Bridge Road in Coventry. The Fred Lippitt Woonasquatucket River Greenway Bike Path starts at Waterplace Park and runs 5 miles toward Johnston. The Ten Mile River Greenway adds dynamic turns and inclines. The Blackstone Canal Loop packs 356 m of elevation into 48.9 km, and the Scituate Reservoir Short Gravel loop gives gravel riders 442 m over 51.6 km. NER RI 200k Brevet is the big endurance anchor.

Providence-Warwick works best when the paths are clear and the shoulders feel predictable. Summer runners use Blackstone Boulevard for Z2, tempos, and intervals, then add East Side streets when they need more miles. Summer cyclists stack East Bay Bike Path miles, Washington Secondary Bike Path speed, and gravel days that mix singletrack, double-track, and country back roads. Winter changes the rhythm for both sports. Locals keep the effort honest on cleared bike lanes, park loops, and greenways. The Ten Mile River Greenway still rides in winter, and one logged ride had 46 F with WNW wind at 10mph.
