Colorado Springs Marathon, Half, 5K, and Kids K
SAT OCT 3
The Colorado Springs Marathon begins and ends on Vermijo Street adjacent to the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, placing the main event in downtown Colorado Springs from the outset. The series takes place each fall, featuring a marathon, half marathon, 5K, and Kids K, with virtual options available for each distance for participants unable to attend in person. This event is family-oriented, including a race expo and packet pickup prior to race day, along with exhibitor booths at the finish line. The marathon route proceeds west on Colorado Avenue, descends into America the Beautiful Park, and then follows the Greenway Trail north through Monument Valley Park. Participants will encounter varied terrain: concrete for the initial mile of the Greenway Trail, followed by hard-packed pea gravel, and then paved paths along the Greenway and Santa Fe trails before returning towards downtown. The courses wind through parks and past historic monuments, with the finish line situated back at the Pioneers Museum. This marks the series' 13th year, attracting participants from across the nation, and has reached capacity in recent years.
Rim to Rim Royal Gorge Races: 5K Road Run, Trail 8 Mile, Trail Half Marathon
SAT OCT 3
The Rim to Rim Royal Gorge Races center on the Royal Gorge Bridge near Canon City, offering a road 5K, an 8-mile trail run, and a trail half marathon. The 5K winds through foothills near the bridge, featuring challenging hills and a downhill finish after crossing the bridge; walkers may also participate in this distance. The two longer races are trail events, each limited to 200 participants. The 8-mile course begins with a short run to the Twisted Cistern trailhead, incorporates 1.6 miles of that trail, includes a 3.1-mile loop on Made in the Shade, then ascends Twisted Cistern again before descending toward the bridge. The half marathon spans 13.1 miles with rolling hills, quick descents, open views of the gorge, and concludes at the Royal Gorge Bridge. In case of heavy rain or snow, Canon City may cancel the trail events and substitute an 8-mile dirt-road course. The series also features a free Dinosaur Dash kids race, encouraging costumes, and a virtual race option.
Colorado Cold Rush Ultra
SAT NOV 21
The Colorado Cold Rush Ultra begins and ends at Bear Creek Regional Park in Colorado Springs, situated at the base of the mountains. Snow is possible at higher elevations along the course. This winter trail race offers three distances: 50k, half marathon, and 10k. The 10k follows a lower-elevation dirt trail, accumulating 912 feet of elevation gain with a brief section of moderately technical terrain. The half marathon is a challenging out-and-back course along historic High Drive, featuring 2,847 feet of climbing. The 50k is the most demanding option, ascending 5,500 feet and crossing elevations from 6,175 to 9,090 feet. The 50k course starts at Bear Creek, ascends High Drive, proceeds onto Gold Camp Road, and turns around at the junction of Gold Camp and Old Stage Road. Participants will see views of Colorado Springs and pass through historic gold-rush tunnel areas, giving the route a distinct local character. Aid stations will provide Tailwind, Muir gels, fruit, soda, and assorted snacks. Cheyenne Canon offers hot food, including bacon, quesadillas, and potatoes. Crews can access North Cheyenne Canon with a standard vehicle, but the road to Gold Stage is narrow, winding, and washboarded, often experiencing snow, making 4WD highly advisable.
Rock Canyon Half Marathon
THU DEC 3
The Rock Canyon Half Marathon takes place during the first weekend of December at the Pueblo City Park pavilion in Pueblo, Colorado. The primary event is a 13.1-mile half marathon, complemented by a 5K for those preferring a shorter distance within the same race-day environment. Its history spans four decades, contributing to its high rate of returning participants who view it as more than just a local event. The half marathon route is a quick course along the Arkansas River, incorporating some dirt trail sections and passing a Nature Center before continuing through open fields where deer are frequently sighted. Aid stations are managed by high-school and club runners, and the participants include everyone from novice half marathoners to experienced trail and road racers. Local running connections are evident in the details, such as reduced entry fees for SoCo and PPRR club members and youth pricing for younger participants.

About Half Marathon races in Pueblo

Pueblo Training Notes

Pueblo hosts 8 Half Marathon races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.

Locals run the Arkansas River Trail, the Riverwalk, Lake Runyon, and the levee when they want steady miles without overthinking it. Southern Colorado Runners Club keeps the week moving with a Monday 5K Beer Run/walk at Gold Dust Saloon and the Downtown Social Shuffle on Wednesdays. Pueblo Spring Runoff anchors the calendar as Pueblo's oldest and largest running event, with 5K, 10K, and 10M courses using the Arkansas River Trail. Pueblo's Firecracker 5K, Chile & Frijole Hot to Trot 5K & 10K, Colorado State Fair Stampede 5k, and Pueblo Levee Fun Run Walk fill in the race legs.

Locals ride Pueblo because the city has that unique mix of urban and rural characteristics that works for base miles, gravel, and open-sky Z2. Pueblo County gives riders more than 700 miles of unpaved roads, with high desert land south, Great Plains edges east, and the Rocky Mountains and Wet Mountains pulling the harder days west. The route covers 50 miles and gains 3175 feet, so it feels like real training, not a coffee spin. Active Pueblo - PACE gathers Thursday rides at Walter's Brewing Company downtown at 6:30 pm, and Pueblo Bike Riders roll 14-20 miles at a 12-15 mph pace. Grassroots Gravel, Farmstand 50, and Gravel Locos La Mediana are the anchor events.

May and October feel like the sweet spot, because most riders are out then and the heat has not pinned every interval to dawn. Summer stays hot and dry, and Pueblo sees 32.2°C or greater highs on average 71.6 days per year, so locals start early, carry more water, and keep Z2 honest. Winter usually stays mild enough for both sports, and snowfall often stays light and disappears after one or two days. Lake Pueblo and Cañon City aren't far from here and are usually rideable, but locals wait when trails are wet because the good dirt needs time to dry.
