Half Marathon races near Ravenna

The Chippewa Creek Challenge is an autumn trail half marathon held in Brecksville Reservation, a part of Cleveland Metroparks in Ohio. It is included in the Dirty Trail Series and accommodates hikers and trail runners, even those new to this type of course. The route features varied terrain and elevation, with steep climbs and winding paths through the reservation. Participants who finish get a medal and a triblend t-shirt. The race logo references the Spotted, Redback, and Jefferson salamanders native to the Chippewa Creek area, which migrate to vernal breeding pools in the spring.

Run with Scissors begins and ends at Riverdale Regional Park in Brighton, Colorado. All races start at 7:00 a.m. during the spring. The series offers runners three distance options: a half marathon, a marathon, and a 50K. A 9-hour time limit applies to all three distances, catering to long-distance runners seeking an extended period on the course rather than a brief, speed-focused event. The race honors its name with a custom scissors-shaped medal. Finishers also receive a race-specific wicking beanie and a 16-ounce pub-style drinking glass. A portion of the proceeds benefits Almost Home Inc., a nonprofit charity. Previous events featured Darla’s vegan chili, prepared with sweet potato, quinoa, black beans, kidney beans, onion, garlic, tomato sauce, and garlic-and-herb pasta sauce.

Turkey Trails Cleveland is an annual Thanksgiving-themed running event offering a half marathon, 10K, 5K, untimed 1 mile, and a kid's dash. The main races feature chip timing, live results, and awards, while the shorter family options are less competitive. Registration for the half marathon, 10K, 5K, and 1 mile includes a custom bib, a designer shirt, and a finisher medal. This event is designed as a family holiday run rather than a competition exclusively for serious runners. Children 10 and under can participate in the untimed dash, receiving a mini bib, youth shirt, and a kid-specific medal, or they can run without the extra items. The 5K and 10K also provide youth pricing for participants 12 and under.
