About Half Marathon races in Wichita

Wichita Base Miles And Back Roads

Wichita hosts 2 Half Marathon races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.

Locals run the Arkansas River Path, Exploration Place Park, Sedgwick County Park, Sim's Park, and Pawnee Prairie Park when they want easy miles without much fuss. Run 316 meets Monday at Sedgwick County Park at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at Naftzger Park at 8 a.m. Run Wichita keeps the week steady with Tuesday Night Track runs, Thursday Social Runs, and Saturday Long Runs. She Runs This Town has around 2,300 members in the Wichita area chapter. The Wichita Mile, Golden Harvest Half Marathon & 5k/10k, Fidelity Bank River Run, and Moonlight Madness 10K give the calendar real anchor events.

Locals ride the Arkansas River Path for city Z2, the Redbud Trail from near downtown to Augusta, and Prairie Sunset Trail when the legs need a bigger effort. Bicycle Pedaler runs a no-drop gravel ride every Monday night from April through October, and the route covers 20-25 miles. Coasters Bicycle Club, Prairie Travelers, Sunday Dose of Vitamin G, ICT Gravel After Dark, and Women of Wednesday keep the group-ride menu full. Thunder Road near Augusta is a Wichita Classic. The climbs sit in the rolling slopes outside the river valley, where DThng #9 gains 234 m over 44.8 km and Derby Thursday Night Gravel PM#7 gains 251 m over 49.9 km.

March through November gives Wichita the best riding months, and runners usually get plenty of steady base miles in the same window. Summer starts cool and humid some mornings, then turns warmer, maybe a little less humid, with a breeze at the end if you get lucky. Boats & Bikes rents from May through October, so the Arkansas River Path and downtown rides stay easy to jump into. Winter changes the rhythm more than the attitude. Bicycle Pedaler moves into a Zwift Ride every Monday night from November through March at 6pm, and runners keep using track nights, social runs, and long runs as conditions allow.
