About this race

The Brigantine Open Water Swim begins and ends at Brigantine City Dock on Bayshore Avenue in Brigantine, New Jersey. This yearly open-water race is organized by Green Whales, Inc., Greenheads Swimming, and the Brigantine Beach Patrol. It offers three distances: a 400-meter swim for participants aged 7 to 14, a 2K swim for those 11 and older, and a 5K swim for individuals aged 12 and up. This course is not pool-style with controlled conditions. Swimmers contend with open water, where currents and waves can shift. The race committee might alter the event's direction based on water conditions. Course maps feature landmarks, and the Race Referee addresses course inquiries at the pre-race meeting. Participants range from young swimmers attempting the 400M, juniors progressing to longer distances, and adults tackling the 2K or 5K. Volunteers assist before and during the event, with options for receiving certificates for their time.
