About this race
The Florence Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning 5K run/walk held at Briggs Elementary School in Florence, South Carolina. The main race begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Gobbler Wobbler Kids Run for children 10 and under. The 5K course is accurately measured, and the event welcomes both runners and walkers, permitting dogs and strollers.
The route begins and ends at the school, then proceeds through the adjacent neighborhoods near Congaree Drive. Costumes are encouraged, and hot chocolate and coffee are available for participants and spectators before and after the race. Awards are presented to overall, masters, and age-group finishers, with age groups ranging from 10 and under to 70+. The race benefits the McLeod Health Guest House, providing affordable lodging for out-of-town families visiting patients at McLeod Regional Medical Center. It has accommodated over 8,000 guests through contributions to the McLeod Health Foundation.
