About this race
Race Against Poverty is an annual community 5K run/walk that raises funds to combat poverty. Race-day activities are centered at Race Central from mid-afternoon into the evening. The main event is a timed 5K for runners and walkers, with walkers starting immediately behind the runners. Children participate in Raber Runs events before the 5K: a 1-mile run for ages 11 and under, and a free half-mile Kids Dash for the same age group.
The day is structured as a community gathering rather than solely a runners' meet. It features retail and food vendors, information tables, activities, music, door prizes, and an awards ceremony following the races. Groups can compete in a Team Challenge, where five participants fundraise together; the first five finishers count toward the team score. Pairs can also enter as a Running Duo, which includes co-ed pairs, parent-child pairs, or regular running and walking partners, while still being listed individually.
