2026 10th Annual Gold Star 500

The Gold Star 500 is a supported 500-mile bicycle ride across Illinois, beginning in Chester and finishing in Schaumburg. The primary format is a five-day endurance ride, with cyclists typically covering 95 to 120 miles daily. Shorter one-day or three-day options are also available, making the event accessible to those unable to commit to the full distance. The route travels north through several Illinois communities, including Springfield and Bloomington. This ride commemorates Illinois Fallen Military Service Members, and participants will meet Gold Star Family members who will share accounts of the individuals being honored. Registration, fundraising, sponsors, and donations fund scholarships and Fallen Hero History Project videos. An all-volunteer organization states that over 95% of funds are directed toward preserving those names and stories.
