About this race
The Glassner Autumn Challenge is a century ride held in Montgomery, Alabama, each fall by the Montgomery Bicycle Club. The primary long route is the Capital City 100. Shorter options include the Mad Metric, Fabulous Fifties, Smell the Roses, Cruisin' in the City, and Historic Neighborhood Ramble, offering participants multiple ways to engage in the day's events.
The ride commemorates Dr. Jim Glassner, a dedicated cyclist, MBC member, and long-time advocate for central Alabama cycling, who died in a cycling accident. The century ride was renamed in his honor and traces its origins to the 1980s. The event is now part of the Backroads "Capital City" Cycling Safety Party Ride, incorporating cycling safety and awareness throughout the day. This includes Glassner Radio, which provides rider information, safety messages, and music prior to the start.
