About this race
The Patuxent River Kids Triathlon is held at 22889 Wildewood Drive in California, Maryland. This short swim-bike-run event takes place on a Saturday morning and is presented by the MCAA John Glenn Squadron Foundation. It is open to participants aged 3 to 17, welcoming first-time racers and children seeking a non-competitive event.
Distances are adjusted for age groups. The Tiny Tri includes a 12.5-yard swim, 75-yard bike ride, and 50-yard run. The oldest participants will complete a 300-meter swim, a 6.4-mile bike course, and a 1.5-mile run. A child's race age is determined by their age on December 31st of the race year. A small discount is offered for families registering multiple children, excluding the Tiny Tri. All participants require a USA Triathlon membership. A local tradition involves a race-shirt design contest, where children can submit paper or digital artwork for the shirt's front; the winning design earns the artist a free race entry.
