About
The 9/11 Heroes Run in Huntsville, Alabama, is an annual community race focused on remembrance. It features a 5K, a 5K ruck, and a 1-mile run/walk. The event honors those lost and the responders from September 11, as well as military members, veterans, first responders, and families of the fallen who have continued that service.
Participants of all ages and fitness levels can run, walk, or ruck, making the field more diverse than a typical road race. The ruck division requires participants to carry weighted rucksacks over the distance, and ruck entrants get a Travis Manion Foundation GORUCK patch. Active duty military and first responders have specific registration categories, and volunteer roles are available, keeping the day focused on service alongside the race.
