About this race
The ReDiscover YOUR Light 5K Run+Walk is a November 5K organized by The Starr Institute. It offers both an in-person run/walk and a virtual race week. The virtual option allows participants to complete 3.1 miles from any location, extending the event's reach beyond a single start line. Its purpose is clear: participants run or walk to bring attention to child sexual abuse and exploitation.
The series has been held for eight previous editions, attracting over 900 participants from 34 states and 3 countries. Run clubs, walking groups, experienced runners, beginners, youth, families, and community members are all welcome. Participants can choose a casual or competitive pace. The race uses the #PreventionInMotion message to link the miles covered with prevention efforts, making the event focused on awareness as much as completing the 5K.
